Here is a maxim by which I have endeavored to live as I relate to other people. Occasionally I lapse from following this maxim. When I do lapse, it is almost invariably to my detriment.
Be wary of attempting to persuade individuals with reasoned arguments out of views or beliefs that they embraced devoid of reasoned arguments.

This is similar to a tidbit you gave me twice, once in college and once last year when debating on your other blog. I have tried to take it to heart. "If you wrestle with a pig, you are bound to get dirty."
Steve,
Yes, the pig maxim would probably fit as a corollary to the maxim I posted.
Ardel, so you too have met KJV-only Landmarkers!
Michael,
Yes, I have met KJV-only Landmarkers, among many others, for whom no reasonable argument persuaded them to embrace tenaciously or to promote zealously their views and beliefs. When logical and coherent argument fails, resort to emotional appeal. In our culture, regrettably, emotional appeal usually wins, at least in the short-run.
